SECTION 5: ADJUSTING YOUR CHIPPER SHREDDER VACUUM
WARNING: Do not at any time make any
adjustments without first stopping engine,
disconnecting spark plug wire, and
grounding it against the engine.
Height Adjustment
The height adjustment knob is located on the lower
right hand side of the chipper shredder vacuum. Turn
the knob clockwise to raise the nozzle and turn the
knob counterclockwise to lower the nozzle. The best
height for the nozzle will vary according to the
conditions. Adjust the height of the nozzle to find the
setting which gives the best performance for operating
conditions. In general, raise the nozzle to vacuum a
thick layer of leaves and lower the nozzle for smooth
surfaces. See Figure 10.

Clutch Cable Adjustment
To adjust the clutch cable, refer to the Clutch Cable
Adjustment in the ASSEMBLY section.
Shift Rod Adjustment
If the shift rod needs adjustment proceed as follows:
Remove the bag from the unit.
Remove the hairpin clip and flat washer from the
upper end of the shift rod. Pull the ferrule out of the
hole in the shift lever, making certain the wave
washer remains in place on the ferrule.)

Place the shift lever in 6th position (all the way to
the left).
Push down on the shift rod and thread the ferrule
up or down the shift rod until the ferrule lines up with
the upper hole in the shift lever.
Secure ferrule to the shift lever with flat washer and
hairpin clip.

SECTION 6: MAINTAINING YOUR CHIPPER SHREDDER VACUUM
WARNING: Before performing any mainte-
nance or repairs, stop the engine, wait
until the machine comes to a complete
stop, disconnect the spark plug wire and
ground against the engine to prevent unin-
tended starting.
Lubrication
Wheels: Lubricate the rear wheels with light oil once a
season. See Figure 12.
Nozzle Height Pivot Bracket: Lubricate the pivot
points of the nozzle height pivot bracket once a season
with light oil. See Figure 12.
Shift Lever: Lubricate the pivot points on the shift lever
once a season with light oil. See Figure 12.
